Work At Home – Looking At Freelance Customer Service
People usually view opportunities to work at home as being synonymous with making money online. While this is often the case, it is not necessarily the case. This is particularly true when it comes to the work at home call center. As it turns out, a growing segment of at home workers are providing customer service to businesses from the comforts of their own homes. This is an option for the person who want to work at home, but does not wish to bare the responsibilities of running their own business.
Often times when you call the customer service number of a company, you are actually speaking to a representative who is working out of their own home. As such, these positions are somewhat abundant. For the most part, companies are looking to hire representatives who are polite, professional, courteous, possess solid computer skills, and who can focus on the task at hand. Usually these positions have a prerequisite of one year prior customer service experience, and phone support experience is often preferred. Of course, if you can bring the ability to speak multiple languages to the table, you become more valuable.
I know that there is someone who is reading this article and thinking that they do not have a good enough phone voice to be a work at home call representative. To this person I say, do not rule yourself out just yet. The truth is that there is a growing faction of businesses who are opting to go with a live chat service in lieu of verbal customer support. This is becoming a very common practice for new businesses.
Nevertheless, I must advise you to know all of the facts upfront prior to engaging in any business. This includes work at home call centers. Just make sure that you are clear on how much you will be paid, what your schedule will be, what equipment will be required of you, whether you will be reimbursed for purchasing such equipment after a period of time, how many calls you can expect per hour, etc. Make sure that you always have a written copy of your agreement which has come from an authorized agent of the company should any discrepancies occur.
When it comes down to it, I think that the work at home call center is a good option for those of you who want to work at home, but do not want to own a home business. Just make sure that you conduct your own due diligence on any company prior to agreeing to work for them.
