Online Writing: Can You Really Make Money with Online Writing?

As the number of web sites continues to grow at a phenomenal rate, many people can see the possibilities of extending their writing skills to cater for the new web site owners.

First of all we have to wonder why the number of web sites should create an opportunity at all. Don’t all these new web site owners write their own information to post to their sites? The simple answer to that is – “No. They don’t”.

Web site owners are very different today than they were even three years ago. The days when an owner coded and designed his own web site, although not gone, are very limited. The quantity and quality of web site building software that is available has given everybody who wants it, the ability to build as many web sites as they want as quickly as they want.

Who would have thought that software could be created that would not only build a web site but also import advertisements from Google, videos from YouTube and, even, articles from the growing number of RSS feeds out there? It is not unusual to find that anybody with a serious interest in the internet has got several web sites.

This is the reason why opportunities are almost endless for someone who wants to do online writing. The people who own these sites will gladly pay someone else to write the content so they don’t have to worry about it and can keep developing more sites. While there is a lot of content that is free for the taking on the internet, so long as the resource boxes are used, most website owners want fresh and unique content for their own sites. Both search engines and site visitors prefer to see unique content.

This is, of course, not the only source of online writing opportunities, although it is a major one. Other types of online writing that are becoming more and more in demand are good quality sales pages. Every marketer wants a sales page that is going to convert visitors to customers and writing them is an art that few writers can master. If you can create compelling sales pages with imagination grabbing copy, there is, indeed, a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Many website owners are also looking for people who know how to write a quality product review. If you learn to write excellent product reviews, you will find yourself in pretty high demand. You can also learn how to write what are called squeeze pages. A squeeze page is something that website owners use to get a website visitor to give their name and email address to the website owner. Again, if you learn to master writing effective squeeze pages, you will have many website owners wanting to hire you.

Is an online writing career a viable option? Without any shadow of a doubt! The rewards for a top line writer are almost limitless as is the demand for them. While it is very unlikely that you could achieve over-night success, starting out an online writing career with article writing is a very good way to get yourself known while you learn the more technical skills of sales page, review pages and squeeze page writing.

Fantasy Story Ideas: Take A Child Like Approach To Your Story Ideas

It’s not quite as complicated as you may think to come up with good fantasy story ideas. Thinking like you did as a child is a good start to the process. If at all possible you should try to surround yourself with toys and stuffed animals that you had when you were a child. Children are very good at being inquisitive and always seeking answers to questions. The two most common words that most children begin their sentences with are “Why?” and “What if…?”

Those two questions are probably the greatest sources of ideas that mankind has ever come up with and will certainly open up so many fantasy doors that you won’t have the time to worry about finding more ideas. Here is a very simple test. You are reading this article (or having it read for you) so simply ask “What if I didn’t have to read (listen to) this article?” Such a simple little question but now you have to relax and let the answers come to you. Maybe you could absorb the article by simply touching it? Maybe the article could be added to your knowledge by a simple electronic bridge? Now you have two very simple ideas for a story.

Training you mind to think like a child is relatively easy, simply start regularly asking yourself no matter what task you are doing “Why?” or “What if?” and you will find that writing a fantasy story will become quite easy. Here is another example that should help you do these exercises better:

Why does rain fall down? What if it didn’t? Why is rain made of water? What if it wasn’t? Why do two and two make four? What if they didn’t? Why does my dog have four legs? What if it didn’t?

Using these questions to come up with subjects to write fantasy stories about can help you to never face writer’s block again. While it’s fantastic to let your imagination roam when coming up with a fantasy story ideas, it’s important to also know when to rein things in a little. We can take a look at the Why does the rain come down from the sky? What if it didn’t fall from the sky? questions to help prove this point. It would be up to you in your story to determine what would happen to the rain if it did not come out of the sky. Perhaps the life forms had access to some sort of giant lake in the sky where they got the water by using buckets and ropes when they needed water. Perhaps the rain was controlled by some superior being who used it as a punishment and reward system. You could even say the rain acted as a shield to solar flares in the atmosphere.

If rain did not fall down you have to decide what else could happen to it. Maybe it created a stratum in the atmosphere that could be accessed by some form of bucket on a rope when water was needed. Maybe rain was a natural resource that was controlled by factors that kept it in the air until needed. Maybe rain was a natural defense against solar radiation?

For example, if you had accepted “Rain is a natural defense against solar radiation” as the answer to “What if?” you can now ask more “What ifs?” If you decided that rain was responsible for acting as a shield to solar flares in the atmosphere you could then proceed with more “What if?” questions.

When you keep asking “Why?” and “What if?” you will find that your story can keep growing. However, at some point you’re going to have to stop asking the questions and just write the story so you can begin a new one.
